With all the stay-at-home lockdowns and homeschooling, you've probably got used to coming up with some DIY projects to entertain your kids by now. Guess what? We have another one for you! Halloween means candy time and there's never been better opportunity to prepare your own gummy candy with kids at home. It's easy, it's fun, and most of all, it will help you save so much money and get prepared for Halloween on a budget. Here's how to do it.

Most of the gummy candy in stores is usually full of sugar, artificial colorings, and simply too much sugar. Surprisingly, making your own batch at home can be just as delicious, healthier, and you don't even need a gummy candy maker for that. Check out these 3 basic recipes that will keep your wallet intact and your kids happy and occupied at the same time.

Recipe #1: Smoothie Gummy Candy Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 150 g of raspberries
  • 150 g of blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon or lime juice
  • 4 tablespoons of gelatin
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 2 teaspoons of honey (optional)

How to prepare smoothie gummy candies:

  1. Mix together raspberries, blueberries, lemon juice, and 1/4 cup of water until it gets smooth and creamy. Pour the smoothie through the sieve to remove the seeds.
  2. Heat the remaining water in the saucepan and gradually dissolve the gelatin in it. Once completely dissolved, put aside.
  3. Slowly mix in the smoothie into the gelatin mix and combine thoroughly.
  4. Prepare your form - you can use silicone candy forms, ice cube or chocolate forms, or any other shapes that you prefer. Pour the candy mix into the forms.
  5. Put the form into the fridge for at least 30 minutes. The gummy candy will harden and you can move it to a jar on any other container.
