With the start of fall and the gradual transition into the holiday season, October is the month for early shopping. With sales for Columbus Day, there are deals you won’t want to miss and should be sure to take advantage of. But keep in mind of some of the items you may want to skip out on this month, as we’ve made a guide to help you plan your shopping spree for October.
As we say goodbye to summer, we say hello to stocking up on summer clothing! Online and in-store clearances give shoppers the opportunity to buy bathing suits, shorts, and more. Macy’s is having customers save 65% plus an extra 30% on swim cover-up markdowns through October 6th. Plus you can find deals up to 70% off outdoor gear and apparel at other stores with fashion & sporting goods.
Although not summer clothing, October is historically one of the best times to buy jeans. This is because jeans have been on shelves since the back-to-school season, and retailers are now starting to discount them.
End-of-summer sales are still making its way through October and later months at pool-supply retailers. Get ladders and swim platforms on sale, or deals off select in-ground pool liners. This way you’ll be prepped for next year.
Camping can be a summer and fall activity, so make sure so snatch some of these deals before they’re gone. Bass Pro Shops is taking up to 50% off on Outdoor Traditions until October 7, PetSmart is giving same-day delivery on Arcadia Trail outdoor gear through October 4, and outdoor heaters start at $50 with free shipping until October 4 at Wayfair.
Furniture stores are clearing out past-season inventory, so you might as well purchase some furniture to last through fire pit season (and then can be used when spring comes back around). Stores like Cabela’s are having deals starting at $10 on outdoor home décor. Other outdoor furniture like fire pits and outdoor fireplaces are also coming in at discounted prices.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals are right around the corner. So if you’re planning to purchase a new computer or TV, you should hold off until the real deals make an appearance!
Speaking of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, that’s also the best time to get that new vacuum cleaner you wanted. October is not good for heavy duty cleaning supply sales, as those sales are seen late November and again in early spring.
Although we can’t wait to put on comfy cardigans and sweaters, October is not the best time to purchase them. Same goes for boots. Due to the high demand for warmer clothes in the colder months, it’s best to wait for them to go on sale later in the season.
